Ladies and Gentlemen,
That is already the second ING Bank Śląski S.A. Corporate Social Responsibility Report. It covers two years of our activity – 2013 and 2014 – and constitutes a compendium of facts about ING Bank Śląski S.A. However, this compendium is exceptional, as it follows the expectations of our key stakeholders and is designed for them.

The report concept was created not only by the bank employees, but also by our clients, vendors, investors, non-governmental organisations and academic circles. At the end of 2014, for the first time in the history of ING Bank Śląski S.A., we conducted a materiality assessment, and together with it – a stakeholders panel according to the AA1000SES Stakeholders Engagement Standard. That was a special meeting during which our task was to listen attentively, while our guests were the speakers. Both the panel and the materiality assessment itself brought very interesting results.

The panellists confirmed that responsible business at ING Bank Śląski S.A. was and should be understood primarily through our core operations. The issues associated with the safety, quality and ethics of our activities were deemed crucial by the stakeholders. We learnt that they appreciated innovative initiatives and expected openness to dialogue as well as a clear complaint management policy. They also want to be sure that the bank takes care of its employees’ development and their job satisfaction, and that it has open relations with them.

Our report is entitled “Zoom in on responsibility”. It is worth starting your reading from the chapter Methodology in which we have described how the report was developed and what its chief themes are. We present there ten reporting aspects material for our organisation which are discussed most extensively. Also, the remaining nineteen are reflected in the report. These include, inter alia, financial education, principles regarding supplier selection and cooperation, the bank’s social activity and taking care of the environment.

What still remains an important benchmark for us is the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy for the years 2012-2015. In the chapter Business and CSR Strategies, we give an account of the strategies’ assumptions fulfilment over a span of two years. It has supported us invariably in the pursuit of our business goals, first of all by channelling our attention towards the dialogue with the corporate landscape. Owing to that, over the recent years, we have reinforced our position as a modern financial institution: we have introduced a self-service model for our clients, simplified the product offer and automated our processes.

Going through all those stages has let us map out the direction in which we are heading. We want to be the primary bank for our clients. We take account of their voice in each our activity – we send them questionnaires, we consider the reservations reported in complaints and we communicate via the social media. Our clients’ remarks inspire and drive us towards innovative transformations. You can read more about those subjects in chapters Dialogue, Quality and Innovativeness.

We want to be also an attractive employer and business partner. It is important for us that both employees and vendors treat the cooperation with the bank as a unique chance for the development and fulfilment of their ambitions. We are aware that partner-like relations are the key here, just like the openness to changes and dialogue. We are developing those attitudes, so that we could think together about our business in the brand new manner, increasingly closer to the social needs. We are writing about our social engagement in the Community section.

In the pursuit of all our goals, we are supported by ING Values: integrity, prudence, common sense and accountability. I am glad that the direction we have chosen is substantiated by the fact that since 2009 we have always been among the companies listed in the RESPECT Index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and since 2011 we were each year honoured by the Top Employers Institute with the TOP EMPLOYER title.

The ING Bank Śląski S.A. CSR Report for 2013-2014 was compiled thanks to the cooperation of many people. The staff members of all the key units in our organisation worked on the very concept, wrote texts, delivered statistical data and made photographs.

What we do care about is that an equally numerous group could now use the materials. We are presenting the ING Bank Śląski S.A. CSR Report “Zoom in on responsibility” to our clients and employees, vendors, analysts and investors, academic circles, social partners, and to all those who are interested in our organisation.

Enjoy your reading.
